The Republicans

Isn't it wonderful,
That this crisis came around?
Now suddenly your normal complaints,
Can be much more profound.

And I can be much more accommodating,
While not being affected in any adverse way,
For, of course, I had no complaints of my own,
Now I can't possibly have anything to say.

Besides, the brunt of the pressure is certainly not,
On me, just the responsibility to know,
Exactly what to do at all times,
And not reflect on the effects as I go.

And it's alright,
I'm much more resilient than you,
But if you want me to smile while I'm being fucked,
Maybe you should find someone new.

Relatively

Sometimes you have to bury,
Yourself alive,
Into the world that you want to deny.
I learned that long ago about mine.

And if you haven't stepped across that line,
Where you believe others share,
And where you have to take into consideration,
Whether they're treated fair,

Then enjoy it while you can, because age will tell you,
That no matter how much you can't prove,
That anybody exists at all,
Meaning only exists if you do.

And it's not alright,
If you don't ever accept others are real,
Even if you are a nice guy,
There is no life if you do not feel.

Reflection

Once in a while you have to,
Remember where you're from,
And if that means painful memories,
Well, then, life's not always fun.

But there is the fact that,
It offers a different perspective,
Of where you are at the moment,
From a stance that's instructive,

Because it's real, for really,
Can you really judge your life,
From a perspective of what ifs,
Without reality's strife?

And it's alright,
If the pain makes you cry,
You'd be crying inside anyway,
And not even know why.

As My Son Hits+ the Keys

I can't do much,
With the way things are right now,
But I think that there are always ways,
Anyhow.

Like, when you're trying to get through,
Anything that won't let you,
Patience is sometimes the key,
If nothing else new.

Sometimes I just have to stop,
Until the storm calms down,
Even if it doesn't make sense,
And it takes an hour.

And it's alright,
It's all for a good cause,
I love my son and would do anything,
Not to give him pause.

Relaxation

How much can you get done?
I guess as much as you can,
While still leaving time for relaxation,
Though, that is something also, you understand.

Because, you see, relaxation's an activity,
That puts you in communion with yourself,
During which you learn what you'd like to do,
When you're actually doing something else.

It's also a time to reflect on what,
You have done up to this point,
And to pass judgement on it so that you,
Can decide if you want to keep going.

And it's alright,
If all you do is do,
You may not have many friends,
But you have a lot of products, don't you?

Up

There may not be much to see,
In this world in which I live,
So much so that if you look around,
I don't have much to give.

But someone has to not have it,
Or we will all soon forget,
That we all started from nothing,
And I can't do that yet.

So recognize that all I've said,
Is really the same,
After over 600 tries,
Suffusing the terrain.

And it's alright,
If it never changes,
That's the way we like it,
Through the ages.

Off We Go

Two things can be completely different,
Even if they're essentially the same,
And there is no way to deal with both of them,
In any useful way,

As if there's something wrong with one and not the other,
I've learned this far too many times,
Even if when I do the right thing,
I feel like a pussy, I am still feeling fine,

Because time passes and there's nothing you can do,
With it except take away its lessons,
Even if it's that you like to get burned,
And not learning is definitely your passion.

And it's alright,
If you make no apologies.
As long as you understand yourself,
Other people can go do other things.

The Line

There are limits to everything,
That's something everyone ought to know,
That's what gives things in general definition,
In this world.

Like where nations end and boundaries begin,
And where my heart stops,
Sometimes when nature prescribes a line,
She prescribes a lot.

And ultimately, it doesn't matter,
Because it doesn't change the way you live.
You still have demands beyond the limits,
Of what you're willing to give.

And it's alright,
I really don't mind,
If that is what I really have to do,
Then I will simply have to move my line.

Quickly

Sometimes one lives happily,
With, still, anxiety underneath,
With reason, for sure, but still you got to think,
What's going on in the people you meet.

And what's going on with the company that,
Spends all its money on making you think,
You want something you don't really want,
Though, some people would disagree,

Because what comes first, what you want or what they say?
I don't really know.
I guess what you have to do is know yourself,
And then you'll know where to go.

And it's alright,
How long can you think about,
Whether what you want is what you want,
Without freaking yourself out?

I'll See You

It's really quite impossible,
To expect me to connect to you,
When worlds separate everyone else,
And with us, multiply that by two.

When I look inside me,
What is it that I find?
I have to admit not a lot, but what's there,
Could occupy a mind.

So, rest assured that it is all-consumed,
By the connection that we have formed,
That creates its own world that I treasure more than the,
One that I just found myself in when I was born.

And it's alright,
If right now it does not seem all that grand,
Eventually, it won't seem much better,
But we'll appreciate that we still stand

Hastiness

There is nothing you can do,
Once what is done is done,
Except to deal with what there is to do,
Now that it's your responsibility, son.

I could have told you there was something wrong,
But my advice wasn't on your agenda,
So, now what will you do? Because I do not,
Have anymore to lend ya.

And you are older now and 'know' what you're doing,
Wow, has it really been that long,
Since I had the power to tell you anything?
Now look what you have done.

And it's alright,
One day you'll get it,
And you will know what it was like being me,
And being avoided.

CPR - Objects

There are three ways to think of things:
Possible, Real or Necessary.
If I had to describe my need for you,
I'd pick the third of the three.

And if I needed to describe anything,
When it comes to what we could do,
The first would be the word to describe it.
Do you feel the same way, too?

The second word really escapes my grasp,
Because nothing feels that way to me.
If anything, it's all a dream,
For how could anything be this amazing?

Though, it's alright,
That nothing is actually more than what we see,
When feeling something feels this real,
What more could you actually need?

Getting Through

Is there such a thing,
As going in over your head?
Because if that is where I went with you,
I'd rather curl up in a ball instead.

I'd rather do everything my parents ever wanted,
And listen to my teachers' advice.
In retrospect, that's not a bad idea,
But I think you get my plight.

I'd rather tell the world it's fine as it is,
And drive a Hummer through the rain forest,
To the most pristine village still existing,
And leave them a the box set of "So You Think You Can Dance".

But it's alright,
I think we're going to be just fine,
Even if you have to stand on my shoulders,
And I have to hold my breath sometimes.

Live Honestly

Everything's uncertain,
Even the most sure,
Because we really don't even know,
Reality's actual structure.

And people warn not to,
Let that convince you to let loose.
Rather, do all you can to hold onto,
The ties that bind you.

Don't live life as if,
Any minute, your chair could disappear,
It only takes away from society's need,
To manufacture fear.

'Cause it's alright,
If your mortgage comes up due,
When you live life truthfully.
That has value, too.

Onward and Upward

When you can go no further,
But society says you must,
Nay, decency says about the same thing,
Look at that line in the dust,

And imagine yourself already past it,
Assuming that's where you want to be,
For nothing worthwhile has ever fallen short,
That's the nature of market mentality.

And your body will thank you later,
Because your mind will see that it was the best.
No one ever wished for mediocre,
Though many people often settle for less.

And it's alright,
The hardest part is deciding.
Doing is something you do anyway,
Unless you're talking about hiding.

CPR - Cause and Effect

Now we find out nothing,
That we experience,
Can happen outside of time,
Because that's how we consume sense.

And so nothing can happen without cause and effect,
Because succession is a part of our make-up.
So, if something doesn't seem to follow something,
I guess you're in the wrong get-up.

But, what of the first thing you ever sense,
How can that exist in a state of succession?
There's nothing before it except no time,
Which is an impossible proposition.

I guess it's alright,
One can't answer everything,
Though, when you're promising that you will,
You kind of expose yourself as a pussy.

Saturday, December 15, 2007

Interpretation

You can't misinterpret motives,
For all you have in your world,
Are your interpretations of it,
So they all make up the same circle.

And if what you are hearing offends you,
Then, don't be afraid to speak against it,
But don't be surprised if what you think is denied,
For others have their own world, let's face it.

And so maybe the trick is to give,
Others the benefit of the doubt,
For even if they mean it the way it sounds,
Your innocence may make them throw their ignorance out.

And it's alright,
If they never change their ways,
Your last laugh is that you are living in bliss,
And they're miserable as they abase.

Until They Stop

How much can one put up with,
When she has no control,
Over the reaction of her body to,
The everlasting drone,

Of the spewing of the active mind?
Well, I guess one will surely find,
That anything is possible when your mind's to it,
And money's on the line.

And once defenses bring themselves down,
And you start to listen to the spirit,
You may find within what was before cacophony,
Is something good, and you are happy to hear it.

And it's alright,
If there never really is,
For your world is not ruled by others' sounds,
But by what your mind finds spurious.

Instinct

It all works in the end anyway,
As long as you're doing the right thing.
And you know you are by the feeling you get,
During decision-making.

Because inside of us is something outside,
The influences or habit of culture.
I know the proof for this is impossible,
But instinct is supernatural.

And why is that? Because it's always there,
From the moment you slide into this world,
And you slowly shimmy to that life-giving breast,
Before you ever want to kiss a girl.

And it's alright,
If you've ignored it for so long,
That you don't think you'll ever get it back,
Because you're wrong.

I'm Not Pissed

Take the smallest particle,
Mash it to a pulp,
Slice it in two and you may have a clue,
Of the amount I give a fuck.

We've reached the nugget of the problem here,
And it comes down to the core,
Of what motivates us in every action,
That which I couldn't treasure more.

And I'm not surprised that ours contradicts,
That's true for all, but maybe more for us,
Okay, maybe I don't truly believe that,
Distance in this realm is always ambiguous.

And it's alright,
We can never quit this thing.
That would only be another failure,
In a pretty impressively long string.

Respect

Is it ever wise,
To try to change someone?
According to my mom, that never works,
And only causes friction.

Manipulation might just work,
But then the person isn't being someone,
For you more than they're being a tool,
And your heart needs communication.

Not that one doesn't speak to things that they use,
When they do not cooperate.
I guess my point is allowing life to live,
Is more important than not being late.

And it's alright,
If your own life sinks because you refuse,
To treat people other than human,
Instead of things that you simply use.

Snow

It's always seemed something different,
Than the world's natural state.
A coat of cold to preserve the earth;
A period to cool all hate.

It bundles us up while we wander about,
Separating us in a real way,
Revealing the truth that even when it's warm,
We're cold to each other, anyway.

And for the daring, it begs you to leap,
Into its icy world with no life.
A heart beat leaping among the ruins,
A red beacon where there is no light.

And it's alright,
Maybe it's natural after all.
What's more pristine than a lifeless land,
Traversed by an adventurous soul?

The Trick

Let's get things started,
And not look back this time.
I've got a world of it available,
And that is only mine.

The breakthrough consists in realizing that it,
I mean time, really has no bounds,
And so it can be used up eternally,
And it's easier than it sounds,

You just have to extend yourself through your schemata,
Out to the existences you'll never know,
And with faith understand what others need,
And be sensitive to that as you go,

And it will be alright,
You'll get everything that you need to, done,
And you will look like a superstar to most people,
And simply someone who gets it to some.

Missed Opportunities

What does it really take,
To get people motivated,
To do the things that are best for them,
Instead of sitting back and waiting,

For what's not going to come, which is anything,
Unless energy is expended,
On something other than what you already have?
Nothing yeilds its contents unless it's upended.

But people are too busy, at least they think they are,
Because society demands so much,
Time to maintain the life that it offers,
Which is yet minimal, as such.

And it's alright,
If life seems precarious as you are trying,
Your learning curve's highest when you're learning to walk.
Why stop doing it as you're nearer dying?

A Day

Dum dee dee dee dum dum,
My eyes are awkwardly looking away.
After such a run with no results,
I guess there's nothing much to say.

But you held such promise and optimism,
It seems no world should have been able to withstand,
The juggernauts of your persistence,
I just don't understand.

Of course, the world's not over and it may just change,
Enough to let you in.
And if not, well you can always come by my place,
For a bottle of spiritual-cleansing gin.

'Cause it's alright,
To sometimes start again.
Life is long, no matter what people say,
And no matter the evidence.

CPR - Schemata

Your possibilities are endless,
Unless you look into yourself,
To find that in order to take this world,
You have to filter most of it out,

And never know the things in themselves,
And never know if the things in themselves are,
Something that corresponds with what your body lets,
You experience as the world.

But, if you could detail all of the ways,
That it is that you actually perceive,
Some think you've arrived at objectivity,
At least, within the world in which you see.

But then, alright,
What if you've spent all that time writing it down,
And then the filters open up new worlds?
Do you enjoy or redetail the things you've found?

Wednesday, December 05, 2007

No More Barriers

It's amazing what you get used to,
Once you resign yourself to it.
Placing yourself in another world,
Is as easy as the utterance.

Because what are other worlds really made of,
But other people doing other things?
Take any cross-section of any population,
And you'll find the same personalities.

So wander all you want, I think that's the point,
This world's no longer about keeping your place.
People everywhere are searching for the new,
And no longer afraid of a new face.

And it's alright,
If you're kicked out of one world,
As long as you don't feel you belong in just one,
There're plenty more in which your wings can unfurl.

The Leap

Okay, this is the last time,
That uncertainty washes over me,
For what good is such a feeling if,
You have to keep on living?

You do things and in the great scheme of things,
The things you do are not that great,
In terms of their effect on anyone,
Even if they cause you to lie prostrate.

So go on living in case you fall behind,
The things that you get done as matter of course,
And F the thoughts that your decisions aren't right,
Because that's not helpful when you're using the Force.

And it's alright,
If you sometimes fall on your face,
Trump's been bankrupt three times in his life,
Which is how he's kept his fortunes in place.

Monday, December 03, 2007

Risk

Whatever you have to do,
To do what you have to do,
Should be what is that you do,
To see what you want to do through.

Especially when you are on a roll,
And nothing quite can go wrong.
You do the impossible when you can,
Because, you never can for long,

Unless you ride the wave on pure faith,
And let no reality in.
And what is reality except what you make it?
All you have in your eyes is your vision.

And it's alright,
If it all goes to pot,
Nothing risked and nothing gained,
Live as you live and never gain a lot.

Sunday, December 02, 2007

Making Moves

What is truly living,
But feeling that you could die?
So why, for safety's sake, do we mostly,
Suck our lives dry,

And live just within the zone that is created,
So that we cannot cause too much ado?
You're thinking society's not its own living being,
If you think it's not out to suppress you.

For to it, we are only a component,
Of how its biology comports ,
If we're good, but we could also be considered a cancer,
If we're living too big for its comfort.

But it's alright,
Pushing the limits doesn't mean death,
It just means a greater rush of living,
And the potential for increased debt.

Saturday, December 01, 2007

Just Do It

I can't stress more fully,
While containing this much stress,
How nothing was ever won in this world,
With guaranteed ends.

It's the nature of risk, not that it's risky,
But that the rewards can be so great,
And no analysis before the fact,
Can prepare you for the day.

Nobody can give you more than opinion,
About how things will turn out,
Which they offer not as what they think,
But as fodder for when it all falls out.

But it's alright,
Even if it does, at that.
You'll never look back and think, "I'm glad I didn't do it",
At least, not with the same joy if you actually had.

Unreal

She was so alike me,
Our worlds cancelled each other out,
And threw us directly into that realm,
That people only talk about.

Remember we only exist with experience,
Where there's things around to be seen.
Well, where we were we had no sense at all,
Because without things we have no meaning.

And we both had to leave because of the pain.
Sure, without bodies, how could that be?
Ask her, because I've blocked it out.
It's too painful to think without being me.

And it's alright,
None of this is really real,
Just like she turned out not to be herself,
Once I found out how she really feels.

CPR - Apperception

Objective within subjective,
That's the best that we can do,
While we assume it's exactly the same for everyone,
And that it will not change, too.

The self is the precondition for it all,
Even before space and time,
And suffuses every particle with existence,
Of a personal kind.

And so these hands that touch you are different for me,
And you will never get to see them.
And when you tell me things I'm not hearing you,
But sensing my world's air's gyrations.

But it's alright,
I know you're out there somewhere,
Even if I can't prove it with logic,
There's a crack to each others' world out there.

Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Getting By

No matter how much you have,
That puts you above others,
There's always someone with a little more,
Even if it's in different avenues.

But there's no one on top,
And how does this happen?
It's the nature of the society we live in,
That there's no head to unhinge.

The rich rule the poor, but they also need,
This group to rule, or they're no longer rich.
With money flying through the air as it is,
Getting a handle on it is a real bitch.

But it's alright,
If you just go with the flow.
Rule justly when you need to and follow with a smile,
And you won't rock the boat, don't you know?

CPR - Transcendental Logic

Now there's two realms of activity:
Pre and post sensible,
And never will the twain meet,
Or, to each other, be applicable.

For using the one's logic on the other,
Is a misapplication that can only betray,
Either an ignorance or attempt at trickery,
Neither of which are the goals of philosophy.

Which begs the question, can there be two,
Different and right explanation of things?
One for those who don't wish to be sensible,
And one for those actually living?

And it's alright,
If there is.
That would solve a lot of disputes I am having,
And leave me more time for sensuousness.

CPR & god is not Great

There is nothing before Space and Time,
At least nothing that can be seen,
Felt, touched, tasted or heard,
By any human being.

And so no evidence of God exists,
Outside of our limited sense.
Even reports of those who 'stepped outside',
Are descriptions from within that fence.

Now, so much is done in the name of God,
A being well beyond any comprehension.
Actions either destructive or reactive,
For people who can't, with God, have had any conversations.

So, it's alright,
If you want to stay in reality,
And treat others as you'd have them treat you,
Because it doesn't work for those preaching piety.

Sunday, November 25, 2007

CPR - Before It All

So, Space and Time are all that we have,
Before we have anything else.
So why do we spend our lives restricting both,
For other people and ourselves?

What's the use of filling up either,
When, technically, they're both infinite?
The cage we build from the moment we're born,
This is all we really have, isn't it?

So where's the purpose in this realization?
Is it not better to imagine,
That the world could change any minute,
And so prepare ourselves for this contingent?

And it would be more than alright,
If it always stayed the same,
For our outlook would be forever fresh,
On this absurdist, most realistic plane.

CPR - My Reaction to Space

Now, extension without space,
I see, that can never be,
While stripping things of everything else,
Still leaves you something else to see,

Like the space in which they exist,
Of course, I really don't mean you see it.
And we all know that not even space exists,
Until the seer is existent.

So tell me again, what's the difference,
Whether certain conditions pre-exist or not?
Experience still needs to come around before,
Any of these pre-conditions can be taught,

And made into laws, alright?
Are we not still being creators?
Space has its place in the relation of things,
Why need it be in the brain for?

Friday, November 23, 2007

CPR - Introduction to the Critique

Can we have 'extension',
Without experience?
Of course not, just like we can't have 'heavy' either.
So, what's the difference?

The difference is that 'extension' is a given,
In intuition as a prerequisite for 'body',
And 'heavy' would never be known,
With out picking up something.

And then there are numbers, and the addition thereof,
Which is a whole other kind of synthesis,
For which we use experience to conceive,
But which independently exist.

And it's alright,
I get that they are all different.
I'm just still trying to understand the value of positing,
This a priori realm to which they've been sent.

Pain

What can you know about pain?
Have you crossed over from your world,
And bounced back into one where things are not handed to you,
On a silver platter?

A thousand miles of broken glass won't show you,
Nor torture devised by some super computer,
Or cannibalism in its most lively degree,
Because you'll still be just her,

Who won't release things at their earliest convenience.
That makes a pain that yet shields you from more.
Expose yourself at every point of your being,
And you'll understand what your mechanisms are for.

They're for when you're not alright,
When the most severe is happening to you,
And you can only find release by shutting down,
Not by doing what it is you always do.

From One Moment to the Next

From one moment to the next,
What happens in between?
I'll tell you sometimes I wish I could just stay,
And find out for my own sanity,

Because the world flips so mercilessly,
And there's no way to turn it back.
Never mind mistakes that fill you with regret,
Constant change is simply a fact.

And if it's not, then there is the time for despair,
For who exists in complete happiness,
Other than those who might have found the space,
Between one moment to the next?

And it's alright,
Things are bound to change,
Maybe to such an extent that moments do too,
So that they can simply be exchanged.

Tuesday, November 20, 2007

Expose Yourself

Vulnerability,
Is not unique to anyone.
It's about the rush you get from exposing yourself,
To the infiltration of someone.

And if one abuses the access given,
And treads roughly through your past growth,
Crushing what you've been through and what you hope for.
Then, you were insincere to both.

Because opening up does not mean full access,
It only means exposure to your greatest treasures,
That not even you can actually handle,
Until their final maturity is sure,

And it's alright,
For them to see the light of day,
At which point your memory and dreams are replaced,
By the next seeds that come your way.

Monday, November 19, 2007

Living

Try to get perspective,
Your life is not a moment,
During which you question your own worth.
That's a deviation from it.

It's not when someone else has your time,
Unless you're lending it out of love,
Or you've mastered the art of indifference,
To the state of your physical glove.

It's not even the state of deep despair,
That comes to you in the future's wake,
When it's already laid out before you,
As a stagnant, desolate lake.

It's when you're alright,
With what's happening around you,
Because you're bursting forth as a new being,
For which everything is absolutely new.

The Greats

It starts with knowing nothing,
Kind of like when you were born,
Then understanding what individual things there are,
Then, understanding what they're for.

Next communicating with others who,
Are familiar with the same subject's things,
Who are already much older but can benefit,
From your fresh understandings.

But then there is the learning of all the perspectives,
Of all the greats that came before,
And the ability to go beyond them,
With the discipline that they all bore.

And it's alright,
If you don't have one of these,
You'll still grow up to maintain the subject for,
The ones who naturally do them with ease.

Remember the Good Times

Bide your time and you'll find,
Everything you've ever dreamed,
Just like everything that you ever wanted,
Was never quite what it seemed.

It's not as easy to go with the flow,
As people who must plan their lives seem to suggest,
Because, both, they don't want their work to be naught,
And letting go requires dedication no less.

How easy is it to have faith in the world,
That it will provide for you when you let it know,
What you want while still doing what you love?
That can be harder than chasing a dragon, you know.

And it's alright,
Everyone is different,
And maybe some people should work for what they want.
Not everything is heaven sent.

Speed

We can't all go at the same speed,
Everything would look the same,
Though seen at different times and from different angles,
Everything must look as different as can be.

The moment similarity happens,
Is the beginning of the end of it all.
To be caught actually being consistent,
Puts a stop to the start of the Fall.

So don't try to catch up to anyone,
It's impossible, anyhow.
Just go the speed you're most comfortable,
And you'll get farther than you may be getting now.

And it's alright,
If you go really, really slow.
Speed only exists in relation to a destination,
And there's really no place to go.

There's Nothing Before What There Is

Okay, there are the moments,
That exist upon sense,
Before which nothing can exist at all,
Except the potential for experience,

And in that realm is the great white hope,
That the fight can still continue,
Because once you make it about what there is,
You can't really talk anymore, can you?

Because it's lonely once the match is decided,
And everyone has gone home,
Each with their own life outside of your dispute.
Careers cannot be made by existing alone.

So, it's alright,
If everything ever only exists,
Because there's people determined to keep it going.
That's the nature of everything, isn't it?

On Second Thought

If you're sure of yourself,
You should stop and think a bit,
Not to dissuade any self-confidence,
But there's some things to be avoided,

Like waking up one morning with a pang,
Of embarrassment,
For something done with the arrogance,
Of someone who thought he knew what others meant.

But we are either born of different worlds,
And will never be able to connect,
Or are trying to say the same thing,
Using the language unique to our own subject.

So, it's alright,
If you want to take back what you said,
With the humility of someone who recognizes,
That knowledge does not reside in specific heads.

Dissatisfaction

The world can have just too much,
Too many people and too many ways,
To express yourself through too many avenues,
To leave you in dismay,

To leave you stunned and confused about,
The direction that you are heading,
And where the enemy lies keeps you awake,
Because you don't want to see any fighting,

For what you believe in because it's not that clear,
And the world's supposed to give you the room,
To take the time, while not hurting anyone,
To understand your own tune.

That's not all, right?
There's something else brewing underneath.
An intense wish for what you don't have,
That will never be what you need.

The Trap

There is so much life left,
In which to do your thing,
That looking back at all the time you had,
Can be real depressing.

Here's the thing, every moment serves,
To compound your life's worth,
If spent truly expressing yourself.
The trap, though, causes you to be inert.

And the life you've built around this sedentary life,
Ties you down with nothing at all,
Because you have a responsibility to,
Help others keep up this set up to the fall.

Though, technically, it's alright,
Just like some people say you can always be saved,
Reject all acts meant to erase your existance,
And you're already ahead of the game.

Desire

If what you see's all there is,
Then you can't have that other realm,
Where there are things not in front of your eyes,
That you'd prefer to what's right there.

But then there's something at the other end,
Before you see anything at all,
That must exist for you to understand,
What it is that's preferential.

And what is that something, you may ask?
That's not something for us to answer,
Unless you're someone that needs to be able to create,
Something to search for.

But it's alright,
We're all talking about the same thing,
Unless we're drinking and yelling at each other.
Then, we're really communicating.

How To Get Ahead

Just wait and your time will come,
That is, of course,
As long as you devote your time,
To the things that you love most,

As long as you are aware that other people,
Exist, yes, but also need to know,
That you exist as well, and see the world,
More clearly than the average Joe,

As long as Fate has it in her cards,
To put you in the place where your dreams can come true,
Because nothing will sprout under a bushel,
Unless that is what it was made to do.

So, it's alright,
If you want to bury youreself,
If that's your forte, then you are lucky,
That you have figured that out.

Freedom

Was there really a time,
When people were freer than this?
When one did what one wanted, not what one had to?
That does not sound legitimate.

I mean, that's what we are all striving for,
Isn't it?
Ask anyone from the depths of poverty,
Or anyone that's rich.

But, it's not possible,
Human nature sees to that-
Whoa, I guess that's pretty pessimistic.
History should not prescribe future acts.

So, it's alright,
To start living and to let live,
And to cease doing harm to the environment...
Wait, is that really realistic?

Obliviousness

You know those things that you are,
Embarrassed to talk about,
Because they reveal your weaknesses?
Well, that's what life is all about.

The one thing that can be learned by the green movement,
Is that energy is precious,
And if we stopped expending it living a lie,
We'd have more left for actual creativeness.

And there would be less hate, for what is hate,
But disgust with what you are not?
And the first step to acknowledging our sameness,
Is remembering that no one knows a lot.

But it's alright,
Go ahead and continue acting,
Like you have actual access to the truth.
Myself, I'll continue relaxing.

Old Times

I'm not saying he's an asshole,
But I've known him a long time,
And in my opinion, in asshole world,
He would get along fine.

But as he travels through and meets other people,
He is a different person, himself,
Not in any outward way,
But through the eyes of someone else.

Which is fine, for I am not everybody,
And majority's the objective truth,
Of the personality of any individual.
That is the nature of reality, forsooth.

And it's alright,
As long as he stays away from me,
Though when I hear of him, it will always hurt,
To learn that he is becoming wealthy.

Your Self

When you're speaking with someone,
And you don't really know why,
Until you figure out that if you don't,
You'll be ruining your life,

Remember that no matter what position,
You find yourself in,
It's never wrong to say what you feel,
Even if it may be offending,

As long as you still have the chance to speak,
And show your sincerity,
Because deep down everyone loves one who stays true to himself,
In lieu of making things easier with flattery.

And it's alright,
If sometimes there are consequences,
Do it enough times and your reputation will,
Show the world what kind of person acheives success.

I Don't Like You

When you have found the moment,
In which you think that you are not,
What you thought you were to other people,
Hold up for a jot.

This is the moment when,
You can spring towards yourself or oblivion,
For when you think that you've been misconstrued,
You've let the demons in,

Who cause you to doubt yourself,
And so annihilate the one,
Power you have in this world,
Which is self-possession.

And it's alright,
If you're not loved by everyone,
Whether you think it's justified or not,
That's just your opinion.

Progress

This is what I'm thinking,
No more run around.
If you want to find me, well I think at this point,
You know where I can be found.

Focusing might be the key this time,
Though, I know, that you always thought that,
Moving slowly simultaneously,
Through many things would be where it's at.

But, it may have been and it got you far,
But can only get you to a point,
When you are old enough to realize what you want,
And you can begin to appoint,

What it's alright,
To do and what is not,
Because sometimes it can be a waste of time,
To do what won't help you a lot.

Happy Birthday To Me

I'm another year older,
So what of it?
It's not like I leapt a year within a day.
It was a gradual trip,

And I may be different than the last time,
This date came around,
But really no different than when I started,
Writing this down.

So thank you if you congratulate me,
I guess everyone likes to get their props,
For just being around and making people be happy,
And thinking that you rock.

So it's alright,
If you want to say happy birthday to me,
I'll do the same if I can remember yours,
Though I rarely do that, actually.

Opinions

I can't really say now,
How many times I've felt,
My intentions misconstrued, not for sincerity,
But for something else.

And what can one do but to just let it go?
I mean, to enter that world at all,
In which everyone you meet's something than what you see,
Seems an awful waste of potential.

One can never know what someone is thinking,
But one's own instinct is consistent,
And offers consistency for others' instinct,
So that one can trust in what they think you had meant.

And it's alright,
There's just no convincing some people,
Because they have never convinced themselves,
That someone can actually be truthful.

Example

What is there to do,
But your very best,
And what does that mean but to think of nothing?
And not to say more, lest,

What is said affects the actions of others,
And their ability to reach the top,
Of their game, because encouragement,
Helps everyone search what's caught,

In the deepest depths of their own souls.
Potential's never reached without others,
To recognize you every step of the way,
So everyone rises together.

And it's alright,
That your role has changed.
You do that well, and your example will serve,
To get everyone to do the same.

Space

I don't know what you're seeing,
In this world that you see,
In which I'm standing right before you,
But it is not me.

It's the awkward moment you had with your dad,
When he walked in on you when you were twelve,
And that other day when you took your friend's hockey card,
Even though he wanted it for himself.

You're seeing so much that is not me,
That I'm not sure you can even see you.
Though, filled with the past as you are, I must say,
It's perfect for what we do,

Which is all about right,
And respect for each other,
'Cause what more healthy relationship is there,
Than leaving endless space for each other?

Tuesday, October 30, 2007

Integrity

Just 'cause you think something's over,
Don't mean it is,
And unless you keep constant communication,
The end won't be as pleasant as you wish.

And even then nothing is guaranteed,
And you must make sure that you're pure of heart,
So that when things all go down the shitter,
You are confident in your part.

Only this way can you escape all guilt,
Only this way can you return to earth,
And only this way can you rise again,
As innocent as the day of your birth.

And it's alright,
If not everyone thinks you are that pure.
No one ever thinks that someone else is.
That is just human nature.

Yowsers

How much can you judge,
By what you've seen so far?
I suppose you can glean what will probably happen,
But you don't really know how things are.

Take a baby and you might say,
That the nugget of himself is obvious,
And that when he reaches the age that you are,
He will be in no way different.

And that may be true but then, of course,
You never really know what that nugget is,
Outside of how it looks from the outside,
While its centre is impervious.

And it's alright,
Don't feel so bad about knowing so little.
Your own self is as impervious,
Yet, you still get through it all.

Public Choice Theory

How do we know that,
Our government's out for us?
And by 'out', I don't mean 'looking to get',
But is representing our purposes.

I have my desires and they don't really fit,
With the desires of those around me,
But we all count on those we've voted in,
To create a pleasant society.

And in that government are others who,
Themselves are looking to be represented,
And have different desires from me,
But who run this government.

Well, it's alright,
Because as long as we acknowledge this fact,
We can then figure out how to minimize bias,
We just have to do the math.

Adventure

Every great journey,
Has hard times along the way,
That add value to the ends,
And significance to the day,

That all you wished for is finally acheived,
And a new road is paved for new goals,
Made more attainable with the riches,
You just risked all for.

And if what you gain is not what you wanted,
But what you realize you actually need,
Then you have also become a different person,
And a little more free.

Though, it's alright,
If you've been waiting all your life,
For a journey like this.
Some people aren't even that alive.

Liberty

Try to stop and listen,
And remember what you hear,
And understand what it is that is said,
Before you think you have it clear.

When you are thinking back to all you've done,
And all you failed to do,
And the guilt you bore because of how,
The world chose to raise you,

Then take it all, the past and what you've heard,
And acknowledge what they mean to you,
But make sure they do not influence your deepest desires,
Whatever you do.

'Cause it's alright,
No matter what people think,
You can live your life however you want.
Do you see the link?

Early Retirement

This world can hoist you,
High above its head,
Rejoicing in the accolades it's handing you,
Its expectations fed.

But like life itself, it's so uncertain,
That you can be all it has proclaimed,
The doubt brimming so close to the surface,
Waiting to burst forth with blame,

Which itself is inevitable,
Unless you are, in truth, everything,
The world needs from one moment to the next,
Which is counter to the nature of human beings.

But it's alright,
If you've been raised and dropped before you die.
As long as you grabbed as much as you could while lauded,
And have enough money not to care for such wiles.

Travelling the World

You must stop focusing,
On the world in front of your eyes,
The world that thinks only of how to thwart you,
And in which all of your hope dies.

The one that you have to try to control,
Or at least ignore lest it drive you insane,
With all the judgment it is throwing on you,
For just being alive today,

And that exists only to make you feel,
Like what you've just done isn't right.
You have to leave this world and recognize,
That one exists that you don't have to fight.

And it's alright,
All your friends will be there, too,
Except as much more accepting and supportive people,
Who will feel they finally know the real you.

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

Happy Birthday

That is one year gone,
And an eternity to go,
Because if I know you well enough,
You'll be leaving things to the world.

One to contemplate for all eternity,
And one to use to make life better,
One to just enjoy for what it is,
And one change the way we treat each other.

And while you live, your face will conjure up,
Memories of good times to never forget,
And when I see you, even in my darkest moments,
I will instantly gain confidence.

And it's alright,
If you don't always find it easy,
I will be there with my hands out,
To help you walk to where you want to be.

Where One Lives

I have been through my own past,
With the eyes of who I am now,
With the distance of the years that make it,
Not what it was, anyhow.

It lacks the pain I'm sure must have existed,
It seems the best years anyone could live.
A mottled existence of highlights.
For such a life what would one not give?

Unless the joy I only see is an effect,
Of the joy I can only see now,
And that past only serves as a mirror,
Of how,

Everything is alright,
And tenses only serve to reflect that.
And soon I'll find out if the future's the same,
Reflection of that fact.

Sunday, October 21, 2007

Making Goals

The fact that you are not,
What you always thought you'd be,
Is not something to wonder at.
That's the nature of reality.

We are always steps,
Away from our destination.
Well, that's not quite true,
For some have no direction.

And some are already where they want to be,
And this sounds like a contradiction,
And it is, though try to remember,
We're talking about the evolution,

Of being alright,
And it's never quite been the same,
Since the invention of the word,
And application of the name.

Cloud Time

Just because it's happened before,
Doesn't mean it happened for the same people,
Though, looking at the people it did happen for,
Do we want to change what's seen at all?

Yes, maybe we think that each generation,
Steps it up from the one before.
I think that's just time fooling all of us, though.
We just adapt to what we see, nothing more.

So what we need is for our environment,
To allow no evil acts at all.
Oops, is that the start of some fascist sentiment?
A throw-back to some state existing before the Fall?

Hey, it's alright,
That doesn't have to be a bad thing.
Though we'd need to get it right the first time,
To avoid the chance of it not working.

Friday, October 19, 2007

Progress

All the best intentions,
Can't make the best happen,
And when the thoughts of what you would do rose,
You assumed completion.

But what of all the time you never had,
To just sit and relax?
Some time must be taken to do that now,
Though that is not a proactive act.

And now all time is gone, and you have nothing,
While so many others have so much complete.
Sometimes I wonder why you dream at all,
Except to avoid your current responsibilities.

And it's alright,
You're not alone.
Well, unless you consider your physical state,
In which case I'd recommend getting something done.

Thursday, October 18, 2007

Alone

What it really means,
To be alone,
Is not a product of the people around,
But of the people in your home,

And of the needs within your brain,
Like the cactus or the rush,
Whether nourished or starving,
Depends on your makeup.

And if you ask me,
I won't tell you either way.
Sometimes a person has a way of being,
That their needs just simply sway.

Which is alright,
If you can manage to live two lives,
Which is only possible if you don't think about it,
A quality that rarely thrives.

There Is No World Without Noise

Listen to the silence,
That really exists.
It makes you wonder why we fill it up,
With all this ambiance.

You can't say that we are attacked by noise,
Because without it I think we make our own.
Just because we'd rather hear ourselves,
Doesn't mean we want to be left alone.

Without ads we would be criers for ourselves.
Without the ocean, we'd need the sound of the birds.
Without the worries that run through our minds,
We'd still review every sound ever heard.

And it's alright,
Noise does not have to come in the form of sound.
Ask anyone who's never heard a thing,
And they'll still say that the world's too loud.

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

Winning Personality

Who is it that has said,
You can't give, you can only take offense?
A scary notion wielded in the wrong hand,
But, potentially, the key to calmness.

No two people are the same and so not every two people,
Can rub each other the right way,
Unless you yourself learn to enjoy all textures,
Even if some people say that's the wrong way,

To live because it's watering down your soul,
For how can an identity be so flexible?
I say true identity comes with the willingness,
To know that you're still you even if you let go.

So it's alright,
Try this experiment:
Get as close as you can to someone you can't stand,
And pay him a sincere compliment.

Monday, October 15, 2007

Mass Appeal

There is a very fine line,
In everything there is,
That can never be tread perfectly,
Without abandoning consciousness.

We were made to constantly deviate,
And crisscross perfection without touching it,
And become a different person with each crossing.
Life is just proximity to the target.

That is why things are called 'left' and 'right',
And why those who refuse to cross seem so stagnant,
Except to those who also refuse to leave their side,
Because there're fine lines within each fascist.

So, it's alright,
If you're stuck in a rut,
You've been crossing lines, though subtle ones,
You've just not appealled to a very large cut.

Sunday, October 14, 2007

Communication

I think it is clear now,
So there's not much more to say,
Especially when things aren't looking like,
You'll be listening to me today.

Which is alright because part of,
The clarity's learning not to care.
Or rather understanding that whether you do or not,
Is neither here nor there.

Not to say that I want to separate,
Myself from you at all.
One day I'll learn how to see it clearly,
While still being part of the world.

And it's alright,
Until then we're still one,
And what I lack, you fill to the nth degree.
I'm talking about communication.

Friday, October 12, 2007

To 'You'

It's amazing how fast,
One's perspective on life,
Can change, it's like there is actually no one,
Who's identity one can call 'mine'.

So what of the people who keep,
A constant attitude?
Whether optimistic or fatalistic,
Are you always a different 'you'?

I guess the point is to always remember,
That you're not the same person as before,
Any moment, for your cumulative experiences differ,
And so what you owned is no longer 'your's'.

But it's alright,
The new you is someone, too,
And may give birth to someone who,
Becomes everything ever wanted by 'you'.

Thursday, October 11, 2007

Go Ahead

You cannot be afraid,
To do things the way you do them,
'Cause if you try to do them another way,
Well, what then?

You'll never do it the best that you can,
You'll never feel right doing it at all.
Just make it right by listening to,
Your innermost call.

And if there are challenges be prepared to,
Defend your style for what it is.
No one knows the best way to do anything,
And no one way of doing anything's best.

And it's alright,
If it makes some people upset,
To see you doing things the best way you can.
Some people haven't figured out the world, yet.

You Never Die

This is not the way I want things,
With this constant reminder,
Ringing in my ears like an alarm clock,
Urging me on like a fire.

No life should be filled with this kind of imperative,
Even if one brings it upon oneself.
Time should adjust itself for each person,
For their own mental health.

And it does with the right outlook,
Isn't this a passed buck?
When all of the examples of past success,
Are really only past luck.

Though it's alright,
You have a lifetime to figure it out,
And that last moment of life will be an eternity,
In which you'll finally have no doubt.

Monday, October 08, 2007

The Secret

I think you should take my advise,
And just let everything go,
Elastisize yourself so that the pricks in your life,
Kind of pass you like the flow,

Of a river on a sunny day,
Refreshing your hot skin,
By absorbing the heat of your frustrations,
Built up by your need for adhesion,

To the ways you feel you'd like to live,
But by living that way in this world,
You're bastardizing your true spirit,
So, like I said, you have to let yourself go.

And it's alright,
If this involves a little humility,
You'll soon enough be enjoying your life,
Enough to not care about your identity.

The Rain

Like a moment in the rain,
When it's coming down from heaven,
So hard that the wetness does not even pause,
At your clothes before it hits your skin,

When you're transformed before the eyes,
Of those who chose shelter over the need,
To look after those things that can't help themselves,
Without a human's speed,

And though your transformation's instant,
Your mind has not been touched,
And the rejuvination you feel,
Is like a deep and decisive cut,

That makes you feel alright,
Finally, after a long time,
So do decisions of complete change,
Finally make you feel fine.

Saturday, October 06, 2007

Let Live

Who are you to decide,
What anything is like?
You don't even know if the black I'm seeing,
Is anything like your white.

You don't even know if we are feeling,
The same things about the same things,
Or whether those same things are really the same.
I feel you're being ununderstanding.

And so what if what I'm doing does not seem,
Like the thing that you would do yourself.
If I ever found myself in your shoes,
I would be constantly looking for help,

To feel alright,
In what I'm doing,
Which would not be the most ideal situation,
Compared with my current state of being.

The Grind

How much does one have to do,
For the world as it is?
There was a time when it was thought,
That life would be easier with offices,

That we were not beasts and so we could,
With community rise above,
The need for any extraneous work,
And take care of each other 'cause of love.

But maybe I'm misinterpreting motives,
Maybe it really is about master and slave,
The irony being that we're always both,
And all have to work at something until our grave.

But it's alright,
These thoughts help get us through the day.
We are all in the same boat in society,
And no one can make it any other way.

Frustration

There are so many things,
That can go wrong,
It's surprising that it's surprising,
That things go wrong at all.

And what's the mechanism of adaptation,
That fails to engage in lieu of despair?
Sanity's purpose is never served,
By shutting down without a care,

Or smashing the furniture. Nothing is perfect.
Perfection leads to no action at all.
And action is all that humans have been made of,
Ever since the incident of the Fall.

And it's alright,
If you don't believe in all of that.
Belief, too, is an action,
And imperfection wearing another hat.

Fate

You can't always get what you want,
But you always get what you need,
And that is not necessarily something,
To which you might agree.

There's no telling why something happens,
Or if there was a reason behind it,
Even if you believe that there is something,
Out there that's omnipotent,

Like a god or something like karma,
Or anything that can supercede,
All of your intentions with its ultimate ends.
I doubt that's something you need.

But it's alright,
It's a great way to understand,
Why you might not get anything you want at all.
It's all for the greater ends.

Life and Change

Even though your life might change,
In very dramatic ways,
You yourself can never change,
Because each moment is a phase,

And each phase represents a different,
You than the one before,
Which means that you are never the same person.
That's what self-reflection's for.

So stop trying to hang onto who you are,
And begin going with the flow,
And if you want to keep some semblance of yourself,
Be self-aware as you go.

And it's alright,
If this scares you just a bit.
That just helps you appreciate who you are,
From this to the next moment.

Rolling With It

Where is it that two lives,
Can truly comprehend,
All that serves to make them different,
While still somehow staying friends?

No one can really say if two people,
Truly understand each other,
Including them, even if there are no moments,
During which they're not together.

There has to be some annihilation,
That is a given,
If things are to work out,
Of parts of one's inclination.

And it's alright,
If not both of them get it,
It can still be a journey of one,
When you're in a two-person unit.

Keep Trucking

Who knows what will happen?
All you can do is do,
Something so that you have no idea,
If it will be bad or be good.

Of course, you can do nothing and it's a safe bet,
That nothing will happen in return,
Which is fine if you don't plan on living,
Or if you really don't want to learn,

What it is to really know nothing,
Because that's what action brings.
It might seem like you know what the end is,
But you soon learn it's nothing.

But it's alright,
You can't help but notice,
Eventually, that you will never know,
What in the world, there really is.

Time Now

There's no way around it,
Or even through, if I tried.
There's just no penetrating this one,
As if all hope has just died.

You can't squeeze more time out of a life,
Which makes each moment precious.
But, you can't also take back what you have used,
And that can be disastrous.

But something keeps on screaming,
To do things before it's too late.
Don't worry, you have all the time in the world,
And when you don't, well mark the date,

That you left, alright?
Because there's something you should know.
I've been around for a long time now,
And no one's ever thought it was their time to go.

Sleep In

When you're waking up late,
You're missing a whole type,
Of life that exists as preparatory,
To the life that you might,

Call real living if you're that type of person.
But just sit down and consider,
All the waking up you have to do regardless,
Until you're ready to really observe,

The things around you in a meaningful way,
Though, maybe, that is how you prefer it.
Push everything back until you're going to sleep,
After the majority of the world.

And it's alright,
We can't all be up at the same time.
Certain events have to happen while some people are sleeping,
Or they would never be fine.

Teamwork

Can you ever hope to change someone?
My mom says not.
You just have to observe one day's behaviour,
And what you've got, you've got.

And that's not a bad thing,
Because the important thing's predictability.
You don't want to commit yourself to someone,
Just to find they're not that somebody.

And what about the things you could do without?
Well, no one is perfect.
The trick is to accept those things for what they are,
And then recommit.

And it's alright,
If you have to say sorry sometimes,
If you've taken yourself to the extreme.
That's life.

Coping

Try slowing down,
While getting the same amount done,
And you might find that time will accommodate,
Your new resolution.

Just like a face can look,
Completely different from one moment to the next,
Situations demand new perspectives,
When you forget that you have met.

But don't make the mistake of assuming,
That all of the rules have changed.
Instead, take the advantage of knowing you're in a new world,
But have practiced for it as much as you can.

And it's alright,
If it doesn't work out everytime.
I sometimes wonder if it ever does,
Given the condition of my life.

World Affairs

Where is the possible logic,
That destroys hope,
Unless, in the name of another one's dreams?
Though, I would think that would tie a rope,

Around the neck of the thought that,
Hope should live just for what it is,
For the act of destroying any one instance,
Makes the idea of hope ridiculous.

And it's also true that any act of violence,
Cannot be justified in the name of peace.
It's what it is, and may deseat oppression,
But peace should never demand such fees.

And it's alright,
You can get through life without hope,
Especially if it is replaced by violence,
A condition that many people know.

'Bout Anxiety

Is it that the edge is so fine,
It's hard to keep on it?
Or does one find oneself so far off balance,
Sanity just can't be hit?

Each individual is so unpredictable,
No matter how well you think you know him,
That, I guess, a shift in the twenty closest ones,
Can probably make you question,

The legs you stand on and the way you're perceived,
And whether things will go as planned.
In this light everyone must be filled with anxiety,
Who feel they've lost the upper hand.

Though, it's alright,
Isn't it?
Everyone else is in the same boat,
And your mental health depends on that.

Sexist Pig

There is something to be said,
For knowing what's been said,
And responding accordingly,
And not spewing shit uncensored.

And knowing your company, and being aware,
Of what might fly and what might crash and burn,
And rampage for days across the social landscape,
Leaving you damaged and distraught, in turn.

Okay, something leaves your head amidst a cacophony,
That otherwise would be lost in the crowd,
That unfortunately disappeared in a second,
Leaving your mumbling clear and loud.

And it's alright,
Because those who matter knew the spirit.
But then you have to please all the people all the time,
And so you go home obsessing over it.

Understanding

Things can change so quickly,
And they always don't,
If but for the different perspective,
Put on them by folks.

That doesn't change the fact that a good perspective,
Is to have a good perspective on things.
Nothing that anyone else can do,
Can counteract such conjurings.

Not to say that the mind is all powerful,
Or can overcome the worst of times,
Though, the insane have been known to survive a wintry night,
Wearing no clothes of any kind.

And it's alright,
I'm not asking that you get naked,
I'm just suggesting that you look at the facts,
And realize life is just what you make it.

Pain

This is what I'm talking about,
Things are never good forever,
Like inflation, you can't have zero change,
Without some other disaster.

When it is time to be the one,
That stands up and does what's to be done,
I guess that's just what I will have to do.
No one wants to hear about my tribulations.

And that is just how things have been built up,
And I guess it's the same for everyone,
Who finds themselves in the greatest country,
In this world of mass oppression.

And it's alright,
I'm not calling for another revolution.
I for one have turned around enough times,
To see I have to only look out for number one.

Insane Success

There are an insane amount of people,
Who seem to do an insane amount,
By an insanely early age.
What is the secret they have found?

Or are they a special breed,
That could have done nothing else?
Well, I'm sure that there are people with the same abilities,
Who have destroyed themselves.

So what about those who use discipline,
To get the same results?
I guess there's no telling if a single person,
Is who they are by default.

But, it's alright,
A sure way to find out,
Is to apply yourself from today on,
And not leave the cause to doubt.

Perfect Planning

Life is full of projects,
And what does a project mean?
You authorize yourself to pursue an ends,
And continue until one of two things,

Happens. And one is that the ends is achieved,
Though, not in the way that you had planned,
Because with infinite routes to your ends,
Choosing the right path's like choosing the right grain of sand.

The other ends is that there is no completion,
And this is most likely because you have stuck,
To the plan that you chose right from the beginning,
Which leaves no contingency for luck.

But it's alright,
You have to believe in the unknown,
Because that is what you deal with every second,
And your strength lies in letting the events alone.

Fill It Up

Though things may be difficult,
Communicating,
Doesn't mean that it's ever been easy,
Or that it's worth abandoning.

Expectations should not demand,
That personalities be identicle,
Simply that they understand the deviations,
And that neither ever cease to call.

And then, of course, there are the sacrifices,
That should ultimately enrich your life.
So, if you think that that is not happening,
Then, you better take a knife,

If you want to make it alright,
To the way that you interact.
'Cause if you keep living by false pretenses,
You'll always live a life that lacks.

Know You

There is so very much,
That there is to know,
That is known by so many other people,
While new knowledge is constantly grown.

And then time's needed to learn nothing at all,
And to use the knowledge already gained,
And then we only know it imperfectly,
And use only ten percent of our brains.

And the knowledge we use is mostly concerned,
With how to get up and clean and eat.
I wish I knew all there was to know about you,
So we didn't have to waste our time to meet.

But it's alright,
We can always pretend like we know,
Each other. That's what everyone does anyway.
So we can focus on where we need to go.

Wednesday, September 12, 2007

Dreams

What happens in one's dream,
Sometimes must happen in reality,
For those two worlds, if ever two things must,
Must sometimes meet.

You may as well never test your thoughts,
Against the ones that others have already sent,
Out in the world. If you never did that,
How could you know what anyone else meant?

So remember your dreams and try them out,
As if they were prescriptions for your daily life,
And take the time to compare consequences,
And you will surely sleep well that night.

Cause it's alright,
To believe in these things,
There's more to the world than meets the eye,
And there's certainly more to dreams.

Rapids

You win some and you lose some,
And the best times ever,
Are those in which the most action happens,
And fortune's as mixed as rapids in a river.

It is tiring, and can't last forever,
But, then again, neither can life,
And the greatest return comes with the greatest risk,
So try to remain there for the longest time.

But don't feel responsibility for anyone,
That will only serve to cause you to be,
Too cautious because what this truly calls for,
Is some recklessness and levity.

Wait, it's alright,
You can't escape it if you tried.
Either you're reckless, and everyone sees it,
Or you're riding the rapids on the inside.

One More Day

If one can get through one day,
Filled to the tits, while still being,
There for the other to-the-tits, then something has happened,
Filled with ingenuity,

Or endless energy, or maybe a robot,
Has entered upon the scene,
Because coupled with a more populated world,
It seems larger than it's ever been.

There's too much choice with too little choice,
To actually make it to what you want to be,
So try to pack it in, but the risk still exists,
That you don't have an eternity,

To be at least alright,
At absolutely everything.
How else can you possibly hedge your bets,
Never mind find time for your family?

Stretching

There is a lot that's not known,
About a lot of things,
In a relatively large number of areas,
Plus in all subjects relating.

When I am thinking of the best way to tell you,
That I must investigate each and every one,
To confirm their ultimate unknowability,
It causes a lot of consternation.

But that is how it is, even if I don't,
Really remember what it is that I learned,
But if I did anything else,
It would be the end of my life, all concerned.

Oh, but it's alright,
Sometimes I can let it go,
And live as if things are all fine and dandy,
And that there's nothing left that I have to know.

Saturday, September 08, 2007

Yowsers

There is no more time left,
So don't ask it of me,
Things are only given when there's enough to spare,
That's why time is a commodity.

Project manage everything that you do,
And remember that everyone else is a client.
That way you can inject yourself into everything,
While remaining pliant.

And don't forget belief, is this a broken record,
Of the millennia that it's been said?
I can't believe that there are still people,
Who think that things exist outside of their head.

And it's alright,
I don't need to be inside anyone,
I've got enough to handle inside me,
And all of my internal help is gone.

Cohesion

In each life there are moments,
Not too few and far between,
In which everything is falling apart,
Or so it seems.

But what is keeping things together anyway?
Nothing that I can see.
Maybe belief, but if that's all there is,
That sounds a little crazy.

But nothing else can really be said to exist,
Certainly not cause and effect.
Of course, if I did not trully believe in it,
I would have done absolutely nothing as of yet.

Oh, it's alright,
If everything does fall apart,
The universe never promised me anything,
And I've never expected anything from the start.

Thursday, September 06, 2007

Success

Do not be too enthusiastic,
Lest the universe punish you.
Though don't understand that,
As a reason to eschew,

The opportunities it puts before you,
Because it won't do the work itself,
But keep expectations low because you don't want it thinking,
That you think too much of yourself.

Yet don't extinguish hope,
A live dog's better than a dead lion,
And if you don't grab the world by the balls,
Fate will hand you your bed to lie on.

And it's alright,
It's as clear as goo,
Hurry up and wait,
For what's coming to you.

Wednesday, September 05, 2007

Solved

Okay, I have one more stab at,
Trying to make this work.
So what is it that would be interesting,
To both myself and the world,

Within the constraints I have been given?
But are they really constraints?
Do not boundaries only really exist,
If you can only work where you ain't?

So, why should one feel like a failure,
When challenged with an opportunity?
Well, he shouldn't, so I think that is one piece,
To this mystery.

So, it's alright,
The story itself becomes the story itself,
And so it goes, there won't be no end,
Until it's in the can sitting on the shelf.

Drifting

'Take me to another world',
And that was the end of that,
The reference points disappeared and then,
Time slinked away like a cat,

And soon she wondered, though I could not hear her,
'Isn't there a way,
To remove all the hurt in my life,
But have all the circumstances stay?'

But by then it was much too late,
I'd be surprised if I ever catch a glimpse,
Of a hint of where she might be now,
For neither of us have existed since.

But it's alright,
I'm sure things haven't really changed,
A new reference point to pin all her dreams.
While all procedures remain the same.

Monday, September 03, 2007

Sometimes you just have to wait,
For everything to create the perfect storm,
But just be sure that your way of being,
Hasn't ruined your chances before,

Unless you are a happy person inside.
That's kind of detrimental for your chance of success,
In the eyes of others around you,
Which means you won't have a lot of cash, I guess.

That being said, there is no telling,
What the necessary attitude actually is,
It may be a different head in the past,
Might never have led to this chance for success.

Oh, it's alright,
Don't feel like you've screwed it up,
You never know what you were meant to be,
Until you see where you've ended up.

Fit It In

I guess that the point is,
To make a point with example,
Like meeting a stranger but feeling that perhaps,
Your perspectives are identicle.

I am in a small box in which I must,
Get an awful lot done,
At the same time in many different areas.
An exercise in spatialization.

But what is life but an arena,
In which to test the boundaries?
To figure out how much can actually get done.
Well, we will have to see...

If it's alright,
To do all you want to do,
Nobody ever said that life was about,
Anything to do with you.

Success

What does it really mean,
To be successful?
I would think that one criteria must be,
That you often have a smile.

And then, I guess, you would need a good deal of money,
But without happiness, it’s not worth much,
While to be poor, but live life like a clam,
Is more like success, as such.

And hallelujah if you have both,
Because, then, maybe you can do some good,
For those poor, happy people who should enjoy,
The exact same as you.

And it’s alright,
That’s not a criteria either,
That’s something more like humanism,
And no one asked you to choose between good or evil.

Testing

I know that it is weird,
But what's a man to do?
When you have a life to live there are some things,
That are compulsory for you,

Especially when it comes to where,
You ultimately get your money,
Because it's the only true gauge in the world,
Of how much you are free.

And besides, what else do you have to do?
You may as well learn as much as you can,
About life by doing what does not come naturally,
So you can look at yourself as a different man.

And it's alright,
You'll always be able to find yourself back,
To the person that you truly are,
If you really want to do that.

Enumerate

The man who lives with no one,
And wants no one visiting,
Has thrown any proof that he actually exists,
At the people sent for the counting,

And they trudge along, 'cause their duty,
Is only to those who really care,
Though given what people usually go through,
It's no surprise they want nobody there,

And so the truth is only as good as the people,
Both who search for it, and those meant to provide,
The basis for all of the calculations,
But we already know the facts have been denied.

And it's alright,
Life will keep on going as per usual,
And we'll live as if some people don't exist,
Which frankly is a great coping tool.

The Right Life

There's no use in trying,
To be what you're not.
You may as well try to change your world,
As stop the sun from being hot.

The trick is understanding who you are,
And then what that makes the things around you,
Then navigating the world knowledgably,
And finally finding yourself someplace new,

Someplace you had a sense of but didn't quite get,
The route to take to get there,
But once reality aligned with your thoughts,
The world's secrets were finally laid bare.

And it's alright,
If you can't quite get to that spot,
It's enough to know that it exists,
To understand that the right life can't be bought.

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

Full Circle

You never know what decisions,
Will open up new worlds,
But you can know that you did all you could,
To bring things back full circle,

And by that I mean being open,
With the openings that you allow,
And grinding fear with the boot of abandon,
Into stagnation's lonely ground,

And then forgetting all about it until,
The day comes when you come upon,
An adolescent in the realm of creations,
That was one of your new worlds' orphans.

Then it's alright,
To kneel down and praise the sky,
'Cause no matter what it is you find up there,
That magic happens you can't possibly deny.

Monday, August 27, 2007

Never Give Up

Oh no, that is the end of everything,
No more is left to create.
If you take the sum of all that's been said,
All that can affect the content is the date.

And nothing has changed anything up to this point,
So the energy that would need to be used,
To translate the message for a new generation,
Might be better spent drinking booze.

And all the effort trying to make things better,
Haven't we learned anything, yet?
The work one's willing to put in to gain power's,
Much less than what's needed once you decide to react.

So, it's alright,
If you want to really work on,
Getting yourself what you want,
As long as it isn't freedom.

Sunday, August 26, 2007

Time Past

Every moment that passes,
Is not a moment lost,
But one that only has existence with,
Its pass.

I've thought of many moments,
I'd never want back,
Not because they'd be painful,
But because they've led me to this tack.

That is the key to getting,
All you want in the end,
The ability to let go of those moments,
That were so momentous.

And it's alright,
To live in moments in the past,
If you don't mind finding yourself,
In rags once the rest have passed.

Gangs

I had to stand up,
Amidst children in their teens,
Who surely couldn't have a strong identity,
But who create strength from being seen,

In great groups and in being boisterous.
Everyone would say that it is all a facade,
And that if you pushed at it just a little bit,
It would fall down like a house of cards.

But like standing on a sturdy bridge that's suspended,
High above a pit of deadly sharks,
Even with all the confidence in the world,
Reality gives no guarantee that things might not fall apart.

But it was alright,
What you'd expect happened anyway,
And the facade turned out to hide insecurity.
But, of course, that's just the outcome from that one day.

The Radius of Circles

Let's see if I can remember,
The significance of the radius of circles,
I know that unless I want to be insulted,
I should not rhyme it with world.

Let's think about this logically, though,
If anything can be considered a centre,
Then, different things will fall on its circumfrence,
From very close to very outer.

And each of those things could be a centre itself,
So that the former centres all fall on the circumfrence,
And what do all of these things all share together?
Why, their radii of course, my friends!

So, I guess it's alright,
Try thinking of the space between you and,
Everything else as a radius,
And you're connected to everything in the end.

The World's Saviour

There are a lot of people,
Riding that fine line,
Whether of poverty or sanity,
Capitalism likes it just fine,

Because that's exactly how it likes to ride,
No surety that the next moment won't bring,
Complete disaster, that's why people hate it,
But can't help counting on it emancipating.

That's why the world's mostly filled with disaster,
Because money's constantly promising to be,
Through the mouths of politicians and some idea of 'good',
The one to come and make everyone free.

So, it's alright,
If you want to try to live outside of the thought,
That money will fix all of your problems,
Because, if you ask money, it will not.

Be That Way

What can I really tell you,
That you don't know already?
You reap what you sow, so try planting some seeds,
Of openness and comradery.

I've seen it happen again and again,
In my very short life.
Much like a plant trying to grow in unfertile land,
Deceit and selfishness are as soft as a knife,

Trying to reach a heart, well here's some news,
The heart must be reached with tenderness and truth,
And what you create's what the world returns,
Because that is how the world works.

And it's alright,
However you want to be,
And however you want to shape your own world,
Is completely fine with me.

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

Freedom of Expression

The more things that you do,
The more the world does them with you,
And the less you worry about how thin you're getting,
Rewards will start coming, too,

But, of course, if you don't want to jinx it,
Just silently do your thing and forget about,
Your ultimate goals because they don't exist,
Until their attainment is in no doubt,

And don't share your ideas with anybody,
You don't want them to have life until you give them birth,
Because, I'm sure, you have the most fertile land,
In which to maximize on its potential birth.

It's alright, it's alright,
I was getting a little sarcastic.
Just remember that life was meant to explore,
And sharing ideas just creates more of it.

Monday, August 20, 2007

Work

What more is necessary,
For human satisfaction,
Than to be provided with all you need,
With total freedom for relaxation?

I suppose there are those who need to do something,
But is that nature or nurture?
We've been trained so much to work for a buck,
And to think not of the now, but of the future.

Though, if that's right, then there's no such thing as instinct,
And so some things must be naturally innate,
And I'm inclined to think that people are born to feel they must work,
And Capitalism simply makes money the bait.

But then it's alright,
For some people to do nothing at all,
And for them to enjoy it, so then what does nature tell us?
It tells us nothing. Besides, my brain tells me work's critical.

Carry Forward

Is it enough,
For things to just work out right,
Or do the unresolved issues still exist,
Hidden deep away from the light?

And do they slowly eat away at something?
I'm not going to say what,
One can do to try to resolve them at all,
Because there's not a lot,

Of benefit compared to what one must put in,
Unless there truly is life after death,
And what we do in this one is a carry forward.
Then I'd take back everything I just said.

Oh, it's alright,
Don't let it get you down,
I'm sure the things in your heart are pure,
And that your issues aren't a great amount.

Distance

There is a fine line,
Between coping and despair,
And once it's crossed it's hard to help,
Inject reason into the affair.

But what's that called when you're inconsolable,
Kind of like when a kid throws a tantrum?
I don't know, but I'm sure it's unavoidable,
And it surely negates all chance at conversation.

Because, why discuss when not doing so means,
You have the freedom to act as you want,
Regardless of the attempts of other people to make,
Your situation more pleasant?

But it's alright,
It's actually easier on others.
It gives them one less thing to worry about in their world,
While you flail about in yours.

Clout

There's nothing much that hits me,
That demands my attention,
So much that my heart's aching to talk about it.
Is that a sign of disconnection?

There's a lot happening that I know about,
And even more that I don't,
Close to home and around the world.
Things I would not condone,

But have little power to stop because,
Well, because I don't have the power,
And by that I mean I don't have the money,
Because there are not enough hours,

To be alright,
Getting the money before giving the help,
But that's the route you have to take in this world,
If you want to have any clout.

Instinct

Can one exist without instinct?
I don't really think so.
One would be frozen in inaction,
Because one would never know,

Anything, because to learn,
A certain leap of faith is required,
And where one leaps is determined by instinct.
That's why faith never produces liars.

So what is the grounding of this inner knoweldge,
Without which nothing would get done?
And why do things only really turn out badly,
When one defies it in the name of reason?

Because instinct's alright,
It's really the only thing that one has,
And if you defy it, you're truly alone.
There's only so long that reason can last.

Unfounded Fears

Why don't people listen,
When I speak most seriously?
Is it that the sense that I am making,
Is only seen by me?

It's in those moments when I most want to be heard,
That it seems I'm always left with silence,
Of those who'd rather not embarrass me or them,
By commenting on my most impassioned rants.

I guess this means I'm finding the wrong things,
Important for discussion.
It's probably a good thing for my quality of life,
That my greatest concerns are not worth question.

And I guess it's alright,
If my greatest fears come true,
It only means that all identity will be lost,
And humankind will be left without a clue.

While There's Time

The time you have doesn't matter,
What you have to do's outside of it,
If you truly want to accomplish what,
Life allows for a human wit.

And that is the ability to remain,
Inside yourself while stepping out,
Of the situation you find yourself in.
Maybe it's not valuable, but it's cool, no doubt.

And so much's been written about it, what's the purpose?
Well, I think that's the very point.
Each generation speaks a different language,
and we don't want to forget its import.

And it's alright,
I have to go now,
There are just too many lives to live,
And this one's just not that important.

Entertainment

Some realities are fake,
And by reality, I mean event,
And by event I mean the illusion of entertainment,
And the mentality of a contingent.

Look in their individual minds and you will see,
Opinions as varied as love and abhor,
Though outwardly the group seems to be having fun,
I don't think I can say anymore.

Of course, it's all untrue, fun is fun,
And if you're having fun, then fun's what you look like,
Please disregard any intimation of doubt,
When you are riding away on your bike.

And it's alright,
Don't think anything about it,
Sometimes things seem one way when it's really another,
And I can tell you the fun was legit.

I Am Canadian

This is the real problem,
If you want to call it that,
With making it in Canada,
Other than the fact,

That no one in it really wants to see,
Anyone else succeed,
As well as the cost of travelling,
To meet your audience from sea to sea,

It's that no one seems to really agree,
On a national identity,
And because of a shameful past and the wish not to acknowledge who lives here today,
A false face is embraced of polite civility.

But I'm here to say it's alright,
What we need to be is ourselves,
And embrace the idea that others can be,
A true representation of themselves.

Dedication

Do you have to be fulltime,
To dedicate yourself to something?
I guess that's really the question here,
Before actually choosing,

What it is we're really talking about,
Maybe society has naturally come up,
With the right amount of time for dedication,
Forty-hours in Canada and thirty in Europe.

So here's to hoping that your job and vocation,
Happen to be the same thing,
Because I'm told you can't do your love on the side,
Or you're not doing enough dedicating.

Hey, but it's alright,
Don't let that get you down,
Just quit your job and be an artist fulltime.
A dream not searched for is a dream never found.

Class

I understand there must be a gap,
Between people of different classes.
How else can acts of discrimination occur,
If the few do not rule the masses?

And what will motivate people otherwise,
Than the possibility of attaining wealth?
Not that the rich are ergo lazy,
They just want to attain something else,

Which, I guess, begs the questions,
"Why have rich and poor at all?"
Maybe without classes we wouldn't know how to treat each other,
And life would be one-dimensional.

No, it'd be alright,
It takes all kinds to make every class,
And there's no harm in allowing everyone to live,
A life free from needing to toil or fast.

Politics

I'm not one for politics,
It confuses me,
Like when one person can be chosen to represent,
Five thousand communities,

Or when a government lasts only four years,
As if that is really enough time,
To undo what the past government did,
And implement things to be undone by the next in line.

And I know it's not all that simple,
Which is my very point,
Especially, when most governments are nothing like that.
Many are not elected, or simply appoint.

Oh, it's alright,
I really couldn't say much on the topic.
Most have neither the knowledge nor the time,
To truly understand how their country's leaders are picked.

Baby

If you were that small,
And you knew all that you know now,
And could control your body like an adult,
Would you cause any less of a row?

Do whatever you want, and it's not your fault,
I know some people live that way anyhow,
And sometimes they are so damn good-looking,
They get away with it until home come the cows.

And mabye the fact that some people can't stop,
Pooing their pants when they get old,
Makes the baby a symbol of a whole lifespan,
Possessing a very young soul.

And it's alright,
If you have your hands full,.
Life can get that way sometimes.
And if it doesn't, there's a hole to be filled.

Apples

The benefits for one person,
Often sit badly in the belly of he,
Who, for no reason, was just born out of time,
And whose body was not made for such eating.

So he stays away from it in the right form,
For causing him the most discomfort,
While everywhere he sees its injestion,
With the abandon of a wreckless sort.

So let the sunset fill your eyes with red,
Just as the freedoms of others do,
And when the darkness falls and you're still alive,
Think of the poisons that aren't streaming through you.

And it's alright,
If it means prosperity for all else,
That's karma, and you may have some coming,
For the benefit of yourself.

Two Worlds

You can live two lives,
Because the one you think is it,
If you really look you will find,
Has never quite alit,

Upon that reality you think is realer,
Than what's going on in your head.
This is not new news, though if you really think about it,
You've been restricting the lives you could've led.

I'm not talking schizoing or hallucinating,
You probably do those just in the one you're in,
I'm talking doing those things and much more,
In what you usually call imagination.

So go ahead, it's alright,
Create another world for yourself,
And do all those things you would never dream of,
In the one on which you've staked everything else.
